Our History

First Manufacturing began part time in January 2003, in Rocklin, California, with a manual mill and a manual lathe. Named in honor of Grandfather Jack First, a WWII Iwo Jima veteran and our first customer (Jack First Gunshop,) the business started in a two stall garage.
In October of 2003, the business moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and began expanding its machining capability. First Manufacturing became a full-time venture in August of 2006. Capital equipment and employee expertise have consistently been added to increase productivity and efficiency, and expand capability.
First Manufacturing purchased Specialized Machine in 2019, adding over 10,000 square feet of shop space and additional milling and turning capabilities. In the acquisition, First Manufacturing also added the expertise of Specialized’s machinists, as well as acquiring its former owner’s insight and dedication as our outside sales contact. The two companies’ missions melded perfectly – the outstanding customer service, the dedication to quality work, and the honest and ethical approach employed by Specialized Machine are also the highest priorities at First Manufacturing.
Twenty years later, with a full staff of machinists and operators and a wide range of CNC machines with varying capabilities, First Manufacturing is ready to partner with you for all your machining needs.
